Tracking

Tracking can be a fun scout activity, here are some handy hints about tracking:

• Measure and record details about the item you are tracking. Take notes and or measure it. This is important so that you continue to follow the right track.

• Track into the "eye" of the sun. So that shadows show up better.

• Look at tracks as a whole, don't keep looking down look ahead as well.

• Think about the sort of person or animal you are tracking if you reach a dead end where would you go?

• If you lose your track mark the last point and look around the local area.

• Observe important landmarks as you go so that you don't get lost and can find your way back.
